The auction comes at a time when the bank’s attempt to sell other Mallya properties have failed. Mallya himself has been staying in UK since March 2016 fearing arrest. Not cutting down on his expenses, spending extravagantly on birthdays even with after defaulting on his loans has put him in a spot. All this has been criticized openly in a bid to show to the public that he actually doesn’t care.
Even though Kingfisher airlines failed to attract even one bidder, the plush sea-facing Kingfisher Villa Goa has invited interest from at least half-a-dozen players in the hospitality industry and a media group. Most speculate an outcome tomorrow of the luxury villa which was once used by the embattled Vijay Mallya to host lavish parties. The grandeur of the villa also finds mention in the autobiography of flamboyant West Indies batsman Chris Gayle. Such is the beauty of this villa in Goa and why not? Though original and well-known villa Kingfisher has been auctioned and bought by the Singh group at 80 Cr. Property is being renovated and there is a plan to turn it to a lavish health center for world celebrities. Originally they were planning to open it sometime around August 2020 but with COVID situation work is going to be delayed.
